Book Review - I am Number Four

I am Number Four (2010)
Author: Pittacus Lore
Published By: The Penguin Group

I am Number Four is the first book in a hexology (series of six) and is a book with a strong sci-fi theme. The story is about 9 alien children who come to Earth, fleeing another race of aliens (the Mogadorians) who are trying to conquer the universe. The Mogadorians are hunting the children, but they are protected by a charm; they can only be killed in a certain order. The first three are dead, and John Smith is next.

I would definitely recommend I am Number Four to all people who love a good book full of aliens, romance and action. Plus, with the fourth book coming out in August this year, there’s more to read about Number Four and all the other surviving aliens, as they train to fight against the Mogadorians to save Earth, their home plant of Lorien, and the universe.

  2. This sounds great! How long has it been between the 3rd and 4th books? Do you think I should wait until they're all out before I start reading them?

    1. book three came out in August last year, and book four in August this year. Each book has approximately 330 pages so it is a short(ish) book. I know it's frustrating having read half a series and then waiting for the next book, but if you have nothing else to read, I would recommend starting when the fourth book is released.

  3. I haven't read any Pitticus Lore books. Can you tell me the names of other authors writing in this genre whose work I might know?

  4. Good Sci-Fi authors are Patrick Ness (he wrote the Chaos Walking trilogy, which is being turned into a movie) Scott Westerfield (Read the Leviathan series).
D.M Cornish is also a good author, but his books stray more on the fantasy side.
Micheal Grant also writes Sci-Fi, I loved his Gone series.

  5. thanks, Nick. I've read "The Knife of Never Letting Go", as you know. I really liked it so I expect that I'd like "I am Four" too.

  6. This sounds like a great series, hasn't one of the books been made into a movie?

  7. I am Number 4 has. I don't think it was popular, so they didn't make the sequel into a movie.
