Kids' Book Review: Creating a Welcome

A letter from Tania McCartney of Kids' Book Review about a great initiative taking place in April.

Children's Book and Art Sale in support of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre

Dear friends and colleagues,

Kids' Book Review, in conjunction with children’s author Anna Branford, are delighted to announce a very special initiative – Creating a Welcome – in support of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), a community organisation working directly with asylum seekers to provide basic necessities such as food, housing, healthcare and legal assistance. Creating a Welcome encourages creative people to use their hands, hearts and minds, as well as their skills and convictions, to effect social and political change.

For the month of April, Kids’ Book Review will be hosting a very special Creating a Welcome Children’s Book and Art Sale, with 100% of funds going to the ASRC.

Directly through the KBR website, we are now selling and putting out the call for your offerings to sell items including book packs, signed books, original art, limited edition prints, personalised artwork, specialised book paraphernalia, vouchers, memberships, phone mentoring, manuscript assessments, or any other ideas—both tangible and intangible—central to authors, illustrators, children’s books and publishing. The bigger the value, the better!

If you are interested in offering something for this fabulous initiative, please contact Tania McCartney at tania@kids-bookreview.com and you will receive the details by email. Offerings are also welcome right through April. Please do not feel obliged if this is something that doesn’t resonate with you.

Along with this KBR-driven Sale, Anna Branford will be hosting some very special handmade/craft events you won’t want to miss:

A Creating a Welcome craft stall at Northern Regards Market, Saturday 5 April from 11.00am to 4.00pm, Northcote Social Club, 301 High St Northcote, Melbourne.

A mini-craft-market called Creating a Welcome at Chalice, Saturday 3 May from 10.00am to 3.00pm, at Northcote Uniting Church - Chalice, 251 High Street, Northcote, Melbourne.

Thank you so much for your consideration. See Anna’s blog for more information and updates, and please do spread the word!
