Book Review - Jump

Jump by Sean Williams (Allen and Unwin, 2013)

Nick, 12, Canberra

The first in Sean William's Twinmaker series, Jump is a fast-paced, action-packed novel for kids 12 years and up.

Jump is set in a world which has been changed by the invention of d-mat, a teleportation system that spans the globe.

The story is told from the view of Clair, a teenager whose everyday actions, are influenced by d-mat.

Clair lives a perfect life. But when Improvement, an advertisement on the Air (a sort of global internet that surrounds the world), claims that it can change you for the better, Clair's perfect life crashes. When her friend Libby believes in Improvement, Clair is forced to save her.

The thing I liked best about this book, is that it makes you believe that the world Clair lives in is a dream come true, but then Sean Williams corrupts this world in the most brilliant way possible, in order to create this inventive, powerful story.
